The World of Work
In the UK work experience has been a compulsory part of the British Curriculum for a number of years and is carried out by 95% of all students in KS4. Research undertaken has shown that most students find the experience rewarding, enjoyable and useful, regardless of whether they plan a career in the area of their placement or not.
BSA organises a work placement programme and year 10 pupils have the opportunity to experience the world of work first hand. Placements do not have to be connected closely to a possible future career, as many of the benefits to be gained are more in terms of finding out what being in a work environment is really all about. Work experience is therefore to enhance the experience of our students. No salary is paid and students are expected to make their own way to work and complete their diary which will be handed in to the Pastoral Manager. Teachers liaise closely with pupils and employers to ensure that everyone has a rewarding experience.

This year our Year 10 students joined a number of different and very interesting working environments...
