Yr 3 are learning about festivals from around the world

 
 
 

This term Yr 3 are learning about festivals from around the world. They started by looking at the differences between celebrations and festivals. We had our own mini New Year celebration to start our topic off with a BANG!

 
 

In Literacy, Yr 3 have been learning about how to write Adventure Stories

 
 
 
 
 
They planned and wrote their Adventure stories and then they went over to Year 2 and read their stories to them with as much exciting expressions as possible!
 
 

Yr 3 have been studying space rockets!

 
 
 

Yr 3 have been studying the different parts of a space rocket. They made their own balloon rockets in class and then went over to visit Ms. Sugdon in Secondary. She showed them how to make water rockets where the pressure of the water and the air make them shoot really fast and high!! (more great pictures in the photogallery)

 
 

Yr 3 have been learning about how to sort numbers according to different criteria

 
 
 
 
         
 
 
         
 
 
 
They sorted multiples of numbers e.g. 2, 3, 4, etc. into 'Carroll diagrams' using a special computer diagram.

In Science, Yr 3 have been learning about ‘Sun and Shadows’ as part of their topic work

 
 
 
 
         
 
 
 
They studied how shadows move according to how the earth moves. They also measured the length of their shadows according to how high above the sun was. After that, Yr 3 plotted their findings on a graph.
 
 
Yr 4 at the Nile Linen Factory
 
 
 
 
As part of Yr 4's Robot topic, we visited the Nile Linen Factory. We discovered how the material was made from the cotton and packaged into the final product. We had a very interesting day!
 
 

Why we get our Seasons?

 
 
 
 
 
Yr 3 went on a special website and researched all about the earth, moon and sun and then answered questions about them.
 
 
Yr 4 Electrical Workshop
 
 
 
 
Yr 4 were very lucky to have a visit from the Faculty of Science this week. As part of their 'Robots' topic, they have been studying electrical circuits. They were given a demonstration on how electricity passes through different types of circuits.
 
 
Yr 4 designed and built Anglo-Saxon houses from clay
 
 
 
 
         
 
 
 
Little Red Riding Hood!
 
 
 
This year Yr 4 linked their class assembly to their Literacy unit on play scripts. They had lots of fun learning lines, gaining acting skills and improving their speaking and listening.
