Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) focuses on children aged 3 to 5 and provides a foundation for future learning through a play-based curriculum. The EYFS framework is designed to support young children’s development in seven key areas: Personal, Social, and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Communication and Language; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; and Expressive Arts and Design. The aim is to create a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment where children can develop a love of learning and build essential skills such as confidence, social interaction, and early literacy and numeracy.

Other guidance is provided at: www.foundationyears.org.uk

The EYFS statutory framework is available on the Foundation Years website as well as the Department for Education website: www.education.gov.uk/publications

Tapestry is the learning journal we use to document most of the learning that takes place for FS in our school.
